The job description says interns will work on software projects involving areas such as distributed systems, data mining, automation, optimisation, scalability and security.
The responsibilities include designing and building technology in large distributed computing environments, developing distributed storage and query systems, and working in an agile environment.
Amazon also states that the internship requires a full-time commitment. Interns cannot have conflicting classes, academic projects or other employment or internships during the programme.
Candidates receiving an offer will also need to submit a university-approved declaration confirming their availability for the full internship period.
The hiring requirements show that Amazon is looking for students with a strong foundation in software development rather than limiting the role to candidates with prior industry experience.
