DRDO Opens 50 Apprentice Vacancies, Stipend Up to Rs.12,300

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has invited applications for 50 apprentice positions at its Proof & Experimental Establishment (PXE), Chandipur, Balasore, Odisha. The apprenticeship training will be for one year, with 15 Graduate Apprentice and 35 Technician Apprentice positions available.

The advertisement, numbered PXE/HRD/AT/01/2026-27, was published on September 23, 2026. The last date for receipt of applications is October 12, 2026.
Vacancies and Stipend
Graduate Apprentices will be offered a monthly stipend of ₹12,300, while Technician Apprentices will receive ₹10,900 per month.

- Graduate Apprentice (B.Tech): 15 positions in Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Computer Science and Chemical Engineering.
- Technician Apprentice (Diploma): 35 positions in Civil, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Cinematography and Automobile Engineering.
- The highest number of vacancies is available for Diploma holders in Civil Engineering, with 10 positions.
- Computer Science has five Graduate Apprentice and five Technician Apprentice positions.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for Graduate Apprentice positions must hold a B.Tech degree in the relevant discipline, while Technician Apprentice applicants must have a diploma in the relevant engineering discipline.
Candidates must have passed their qualifying course in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026. The qualification must have been obtained through regular mode.

Applicants must also be registered on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal. Applications from candidates without valid NATS enrolment numbers will be rejected.
Candidates who have completed postgraduate degrees are not eligible. Similarly, candidates who have one year or more of training or job experience after obtaining the required qualification will not be considered.
Selection and Application Process
PXE will shortlist candidates based on the marks secured in their essential qualification. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test or interview at PXE, Chandipur. Selected candidates will receive their joining letters through email.
The application form must be downloaded from the DRDO website, filled by typing only and sent by Speed Post or Registered Post to the Director, Proof & Experimental Establishment, DRDO, PO-Chandipur, Dist-Balasore, Odisha – 756025.
Handwritten or incomplete applications will be rejected. The last date for receipt of applications is October 12, 2026.
The apprenticeship does not provide any automatic right to employment with PXE or DRDO after completion of the training. Candidates will also not be provided accommodation or transport during the apprenticeship period.
