DRDO Invites Applications for Paid Internship 2026 at DMRL Hyderabad

The Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), Hyderabad, a laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has invited applications for its Paid Internship Programme 2026.

The internship is open to eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students who want to gain practical experience by working on research projects at the laboratory.
DMRL has announced 20 internship positions for a period of six months. The internship is scheduled to begin on August 5, 2026, and the last date to submit applications is July 15, 2026.
Eligibility
The internship is open to final-year BE/BTech students and ME/MTech/MSc students studying in AICTE or UGC-recognised institutions. Applicants must be Indian citizens and should be below 28 years of age as on July 31, 2026.

Students from Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science (Data Science), and Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) can apply.
BE/BTech students should have a minimum CGPA of 7.0 on a 10-point scale. ME/MTech/MSc students should have secured at least 70% marks in the first year of their course.
Stipend and Duration
Selected students will receive a stipend of ₹5,000 per month for six months. The amount will be paid in two instalments—the first after completing three months and the second after completing the internship successfully.

The internship will allow students to work with DRDO scientists on projects related to defence materials and technologies. Students who complete the internship and meet all the requirements will receive a certificate from DMRL.
How to Apply
Applications have to be submitted only through email. Candidates need to fill the prescribed application form and send it along with the required documents to [email protected] before the last date.

The application should include academic mark sheets, Aadhaar card, a request or forwarding letter from the college or university, and a brief bio-data.
Selection Process
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their academic record and eligibility. If needed, DMRL may conduct an online or offline interview before making the final selection.
The list of selected candidates is expected to be announced by July 31, 2026. Selected students will receive joining instructions through email before the internship starts.
The paid internship programme gives engineering and science students an opportunity to understand how research is carried out in a DRDO laboratory. It also helps students gain practical experience by working on real projects under the guidance of scientists.
