Oracle’s latest layoffs took place in the US on September 14, 2026. Employees reportedly received the termination email around 6 am, with the same day declared their last working day.
The number of employees affected in this latest round has not been disclosed. The message was sent early in the morning (around 6 am). “We are sharing some difficult news regarding your position… Today is your last working day.”
Employees Lose System Access Before Layoff Email
According to reports from affected employees, some Oracle workers lost access to company systems before receiving the formal termination email.

Reports said federated logins were disabled early in the morning, followed by disconnection from Slack and other workplace systems.
The email, sent under the name “Oracle Leadership”, said the company had decided to eliminate the employees’ roles as part of a broader organisational change based on its current business needs.
The affected employees were informed that September 14 would be their last working day. Reports also said the email provided information on severance and asked employees to provide a personal email address for further separation-related communication.
Oracle has not publicly announced the total number of employees affected in this latest round. Reports also indicate that employees across multiple teams were impacted, but a detailed department-wise breakdown has not been confirmed.

Oracle Workforce Fell by 21,000 in Fiscal 2026
The latest cuts follow a significant reduction in Oracle’s workforce during fiscal 2026.
According to Oracle’s annual filing, its global full-time employee count fell by about 21,000, or 13%, to around 141,000 as of May 31, 2026, from about 162,000 a year earlier. The reduction includes both layoffs and employee attrition.
Oracle is also increasing spending on AI and cloud infrastructure while managing higher restructuring costs.
Reuters reported on September 11 that Oracle increased its estimated restructuring costs by another $700 million, taking the projected total for its fiscal 2026 restructuring plan to about $2.8 billion.
The company spent $28.5 billion on capital expenditure in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, compared with $8.5 billion a year earlier, as it expands data-centre capacity.
For HR and technology companies, Oracle’s latest cuts show the workforce changes taking place alongside large investments in AI and cloud infrastructure.
However, AI should not be presented as the sole reason for the latest layoffs, as Oracle’s latest employee communication refers to broader organisational changes.
Reports have raised concerns about a possible impact on Oracle’s India operations, but a fresh India layoff round has not been officially confirmed and should be treated as a possibility rather than a confirmed development.
