According to reports, affected employees received an email at around 6:00 a.m. informing them that they were included in a collective dismissal process.

This is one of Oracle’s biggest recent layoffs in Romania and follows similar workforce reductions in other countries.

Employees Informed by Email

Employees received an email with the subject line, “COLLECTIVE DISMISSAL – YOU ARE A PROPOSED IMPACTED EMPLOYEE.” The message informed them that they had been selected as part of the company’s collective layoff process.

Many employees reportedly learned about the decision through email before speaking with their managers or HR teams.

Oracle’s Romania operations employ around 4,000 people, making the latest layoffs significant for the company’s workforce in the country. With more than 500 employees affected, the reduction represents a notable portion of Oracle’s local operations.

Part of a Global Restructuring

The layoffs in Romania are part of Oracle’s broader restructuring efforts. The company has been making changes to its workforce while increasing investments in cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI).

According to Oracle’s FY2026 annual report, the company’s global workforce declined from about 162,000 employees to 141,000 during the fiscal year.

A reduction of nearly 21,000 jobs. Oracle also reported $1.84 billion in restructuring and severance costs.

Focus on AI and Cloud Business

Oracle has not shared a specific reason for the Romania layoffs. However, the company has been investing heavily in AI technology, cloud services, and new data centers.

Like many other technology companies, Oracle is shifting resources to support these business areas while reducing costs in other parts of the organization.

Part of a Wider Tech Industry Trend

Oracle joins several major technology companies that have announced layoffs while continuing to invest in AI and cloud technologies. Companies across the industry are changing their workforce plans as business priorities shift.

The latest layoffs in Romania show that Oracle’s restructuring efforts are continuing as the company focuses on its long-term business strategy.
