US-based biotechnology pioneer Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. has announced plans to establish its first overseas Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad.

Scheduled to become fully operational in the second half of 2026, the facility represents a strategic investment to scale the company’s global operations and will generate hundreds of high-value jobs over the coming years.

The development materialized following a high-level meeting at the Telangana Secretariat between a Regeneron delegation led by Senior Vice President Bari Kowal and state officials.

Kowal and Telangana Life Sciences CEO Sarvesh Singh formally exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.

Fueling the Job Market: AI, Data Science, and Clinical Operations

The upcoming center will heavily reshape the regional employment ecosystem by creating specialized roles for technology professionals, IT engineers, and medical researchers.

According to company executives, the facility will house diverse teams working across several critical global functions, including:

  • Artificial Intelligence Engineering and Machine Learning
  • Advanced Data Science and Statistical Programming
  • Clinical Trial Operations and Data Management
  • Commercial Analytics and Strategic Insights

The facility is led by Rajiv Onat, Executive Director of the Regeneron GCC. It aims to leverage local expertise to accelerate global drug development pipelines.

Regeneron is globally recognized for its physician-scientist-led culture.

The company currently boasts 15 approved medicines and a robust pipeline of nearly 50 investigational candidates.

Regeneron Strengthening Hyderabad’s Ecosystem as a Global Pharma Hub

The investment builds upon Regeneron’s initial Indian footprint established in Bengaluru in 2022.

Telangana officials emphasized that Hyderabad’s robust infrastructure makes it an ideal destination for global capability expansion.

This infrastructure is anchored by premier clusters like Genome Valley and the upcoming Green Pharma City.

Minister Sridhar Babu noted that Hyderabad has rapidly evolved into India’s second-largest GCC destination, hosting approximately 450 global centers.

The state’s unique convergence of scientific research, digital manufacturing capabilities, and biotech talent expects to provide Regeneron with a competitive edge.

This alliance will further solidify Telangana’s status as a world-class life sciences capital.
