Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved the decision after reviewing the current situation and noting that the circumstances that led to the temporary measures have largely improved.
The move means government employees will now return to their regular office schedule, bringing an end to the temporary work pattern that had been in place for the past few weeks.
Temporary Measures Introduced to Save Fuel
The Delhi government had introduced work-from-home (WFH) on Wednesdays and Saturdays along with staggered office timings as part of a fuel conservation plan.

The decision came during a period of uncertainty caused by rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia, particularly the conflict involving Iran. There were concerns that disruptions in global oil supplies could affect fuel availability and prices.
The measures were aimed at reducing fuel consumption, easing traffic congestion, and lowering the daily movement of government vehicles.
The government had also encouraged departments to hold virtual meetings wherever possible as part of the broader conservation effort.
Normal Office Timings Back

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta approved the rollback of the measures on Saturday with immediate effect.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, “Now that the geopolitical situation has practically normalised, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved withdrawal of Work-From-Home on Wednesdays and Saturdays.”
Government offices under the Government of National Capital Territory (GNCTD) will now function from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., replacing the staggered timings that were introduced earlier.
The office timings for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will continue to remain 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
An official order is expected to be issued to all departments, asking employees to follow the regular office schedule.
Return to Regular Government Operations
The rollback of WFH is part of the government’s decision to return to normal functioning after the improvement in the international situation.
Along with ending work-from-home, the government is also expected to gradually discontinue other temporary fuel-saving measures that had been introduced during the period of uncertainty.
The decision is likely to bring all government offices back to their usual routine, with employees attending offices on all working days. Officials believe that since the concerns over fuel supply have eased, there is no longer a need to continue the temporary work arrangements.
The government has said that regular office attendance will help departments function more smoothly and improve coordination among officials.
