IBM Expands India Presence With New Centres in Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru

IBM has expanded its presence in India with two new centres focused on technology services, artificial intelligence, research and talent development.

The company has opened an IBM Consulting FutureNow Centre in Visakhapatnam and has also partnered with CHRIST (Deemed to be University) to set up the IBM Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence in Bengaluru.
FutureNow Centre to Support Global Client Work
IBM opened the FutureNow Centre in Visakhapatnam on August 5. The centre will support consulting and technology services for global clients, with work covering artificial intelligence, hybrid cloud, software engineering, data and analytics, cybersecurity and enterprise transformation.

It will also support cloud transformation, platform engineering, service integration, quality engineering and user experience services.
The centre was inaugurated by Nara Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT, Electronics and HRD, in the presence of Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India and South Asia, and other government and IBM representatives. IBM said the centre will help expand its presence in Andhra Pradesh and create opportunities for technology professionals in the region.
With the addition of Visakhapatnam, IBM Consulting now has FutureNow Centres in 15 locations across India, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Noida and Mumbai.
Bengaluru Centre to Focus on AI Skills and Research

On August 11, IBM and CHRIST University announced the IBM Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence in Bengaluru. The centre will give students, faculty members, researchers and PhD scholars access to IBM’s enterprise AI technologies and real-world use cases.
The centre will support work in generative AI, large language models, intelligent automation and responsible AI. IBM Expert Labs will conduct hands-on training for faculty members, PhD scholars and postgraduate students. Students and researchers will also have access to IBM SkillsBuild for learning and certification.
The centre will also support collaborative research, internships, hackathons and innovation challenges.
Together, the two initiatives cover both sides of IBM’s India expansion: building technology delivery capacity for global clients and developing the skills and research capabilities needed for the growing AI workforce.
