Axis Capital Elevates Kushagra Kumar as MD & Head – BFSI Investment Banking

Axis Capital Ltd. has elevated Kushagra Kumar to Managing Director & Head of BFSI – Investment Banking from his most recent role as Executive Director since 2024.

In his new role, he will spearhead Axis Capital’s BFSI investment banking franchise, focusing on client relationships, strategic transactions, and sector-led growth opportunities.

Extensive Experience

Based in Mumbai, Kushagra has emerged as a seasoned investment banker with nearly two decades of experience across mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and strategic advisory within the financial services sector.

Before joining Axis Capital, Kumar served as Director – Investment Banking at Avendus from June 2021 to January 2024, where he worked on several high-profile financial services transactions.

Prior to that, Kushagra spent more than eight years at EY in transaction advisory services, advising corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity fundraising, and restructuring mandates.

Earlier in his career, he worked with JM Financial and briefly with Bank of America as a Summer Associate in corporate and investment banking. His experience spans public market transactions, institutional placements, rights issues, and private equity deals in the financial services space.

An IIM Ahmedabad alumnus with an MBA in Finance, Economics, and Strategy, Kushagra also holds a B.Tech in Information Technology from IIIT Allahabad.
