Tata Communications Appoints Ganesh Lakshminarayanan as MD & CEO

Tata Communications has appointed Ganesh Lakshminarayanan as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a five-year term, effective from May 20, 2026, to May 19, 2031.

In this new role, Ganesh will lead the strategic direction and overall business operations of Tata Communications, with a focus on driving digital transformation, strengthening global connectivity solutions, expanding enterprise services, and accelerating the company’s growth across international markets.

Extensive Experience

Ganesh brings more than 30 years of international management experience across multinational corporations, B2B start-ups, and Indian enterprises.

Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Group Vice President for ServiceNow India and SAARC, where he was responsible for driving market growth across the region.

Before joining ServiceNow, Ganesh was the CEO of Bharti Airtel Business in India. Earlier, he also led Airtel’s Enterprise Business unit as CEO, playing a key role in expanding the company’s enterprise solutions and business operations.

Under his leadership, Airtel’s Enterprise Business unit received the Chairman’s Award for Best Business Unit in FY23. The business achieved 50% growth over three years while increasing its market share from 30% to 33%, reflecting his strong focus on growth and execution.

Academically, Ganesh earned an MBA with high distinction from the Ross School of Business, Ann Arbor. He also holds a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from Guindy Engineering College, where he graduated as a gold medalist.

He has twice been elected to the NASSCOM executive council and has also served on the FICCI council.
