Tech Mahindra Hyderabad Employee Protest: Company Says She Remains on Payroll

Tech Mahindra has clarified that R Bhavana, the Hyderabad employee who protested outside the company’s campus over an alleged termination, remains an active employee and continues to be on the company’s payroll.

The development follows the earlier SightsIn Plus report on the Tech Mahindra employee protest, published on July 24.

Bhavana had alleged that she was removed from employment after taking leave to care for her ailing daughter. Tech Mahindra has now disputed the termination claim and provided details of her employment status and leave record.

Tech Mahindra Employee Took 27 Working Days of Leave

According to Tech Mahindra, Bhavana joined its Hyderabad office on March 26, 2026. Between her joining date and July 22, she took 27 working days of leave, comprising 12 days of planned leave and 15 days of unplanned leave.

Weekends and holidays were excluded from the company’s calculation.

The company said it had supported her leave requests related to personal circumstances. It added that, following an absence in July, Bhavana was asked to report back to work and submit the required medical documents.

These leave figures represent Tech Mahindra’s account of the employment dispute.

Abandonment of Services’ Notice Was Not Implemented

Tech Mahindra acknowledged that a communication referring to “Abandonment of Services” was issued to Bhavana on July 22. However, the company said the separation was never implemented and that she continues to remain an active employee.

The company also disagreed with the claim that Bhavana was terminated for taking three days of leave, saying this did not reflect the complete sequence of events.

According to Tech Mahindra, her continued employment status was communicated to her on July 23, and her July salary was processed normally. The company also said she had access to internal grievance channels to raise concerns and respond to the communication.

Employee’s Allegations and Company’s Response

The Tech Mahindra Hyderabad protest took place after Bhavana alleged that she had been arbitrarily dismissed following leave taken to care for her daughter. She had also raised concerns about the handling of her leave and employment status.

Tech Mahindra has denied these allegations and said the matter should be viewed in the context of her attendance and leave record. The company said Bhavana did not wish to resume work and was seeking a financial settlement.

The latest clarification changes an important aspect of the earlier Tech Mahindra employee termination dispute: the company says there was no completed termination and that Bhavana remains on its payroll.

The case continues to draw attention to employee grievance handling, leave management and communication between employers and employees.

However, the employee’s allegations and Tech Mahindra’s response remain separate accounts of the dispute and should not be treated as facts beyond what each party has stated.
