HCLTech added 6,450 employees on a net basis in the July–September quarter of FY27, taking its total workforce to 2,30,339. The company also onboarded 6,136 freshers during the quarter, while voluntary attrition edged up to 12.8%, according to its latest quarterly workforce data.

The workforce expansion came alongside revenue growth of 11.5% year-on-year to ₹35,620 crore and a 21.2% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹5,132 crore. However, the company narrowed its FY27 revenue growth forecast, citing changes in client spending and billing models.
Fresher Hiring Picks Up
HCLTech added 6,136 freshers in Q2 FY27, compared with 1,056 in the previous quarter and 5,196 in the year-ago quarter. The company had reported a net reduction of 3,292 employees in Q1 FY27.
The latest intake points to a stronger fresher hiring quarter. HR teams will need to focus on training, skills development and project deployment as new employees move into delivery roles.

HCLTech had earlier indicated that its FY27 fresher hiring would be broadly similar to the previous year’s intake. However, the quarterly figures alone do not confirm any revision to its full-year hiring plan.
Attrition and Employee Compensation
Voluntary attrition, measured on a last-twelve-month basis, rose to 12.8% from 12.7% in Q1 FY27 and 12.6% in Q2 FY26. The measure excludes involuntary attrition and digital process operations.
The marginal increase makes retention an important metric to watch as the company expands its workforce.

On compensation, the Q2 results coverage did not confirm a new salary revision or variable-pay decision. In October 2025, HCLTech announced salary hikes effective that month and said quarterly variable pay would be moved into fixed salary for employees. That decision should not be interpreted as a new FY27 announcement.
Revenue Growth and Business Outlook
HCLTech’s revenue from operations increased 3% sequentially to ₹35,620 crore, while net profit rose 11% quarter-on-quarter to ₹5,132 crore. Operating margin stood at 18.2%, an improvement of 80 basis points year-on-year.
The company reported advanced AI revenue of $219 million, up from $171 million in the previous quarter. New deal wins totalled $3.26 billion, including a $1.14 billion contract with Mercedes-Benz.
Despite the growth in revenue and profit, HCLTech narrowed its FY27 revenue growth forecast to 2.5%–4% from the earlier range of 1%–4%, according to Reuters. The company also declared an interim dividend of ₹12 per share.
For HR leaders, the key indicators to monitor are fresher intake, employee deployment, attrition and future compensation announcements as business demand and AI-led changes influence workforce requirements.
