Nike to Build New Bengaluru Campus Amid Global Job Cuts

Nike plans to open a new campus in Bengaluru by fiscal 2028 as the sportswear company increases its focus on India as a growth market and manufacturing hub. The campus will bring together India-based full-time employees supporting Nike, Jordan and Converse.

The company has not yet disclosed the exact location, investment amount or expected headcount for the new campus.

Nike said the location will be announced in calendar 2027, while employees are expected to move to the campus in phases from FY28.

India Gains Importance in Nike’s Global Operations

The company said India is already an important growth market and manufacturing hub, with access to talent and capabilities that can support its global business.

The Bengaluru campus is expected to help Nike work more closely with local consumers and athletes, while also supporting manufacturing growth and building capabilities that can serve markets beyond India.

Chief Operating Officer Venky Alagirisamy said Bengaluru will play an increasingly important role in the company’s future. He described the campus as a long-term investment in the local market and capabilities to serve athletes and consumers globally.

Nike already has teams in Bengaluru working across areas including technology, supply chain and manufacturing-related functions. Current Nike job listings also show technology and delivery and capacity management roles based in Bengaluru.

Campus Comes Amid Global Restructuring

The India investment comes at a time when Nike is restructuring its global operating model under its “Pace” programme.

Nike said the restructuring will result in fewer roles across the company, although it has not disclosed the total number of positions that may be affected. Decisions on impacted roles will begin in 2027 and beyond.

The company expects the Pace programme to generate about $2.5 billion in cumulative savings through fiscal 2031. Nike is also reorganising its global operations into three geographic regions and plans to place its Asia Pacific and Greater China leadership team in Singapore.

For India, however, the Bengaluru campus signals continued investment in local capabilities and talent even as Nike reduces roles in some parts of its global organisation.
