DRDO DEBEL Launches 6 Month Paid Internship, Apply by May 31

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) laboratory Defence Bioengineering and Electromedical Laboratory (DEBEL), Bengaluru, has invited applications for its six-month paid internship programme for the academic year 2026-27.
The internship opportunity is open to eligible and meritorious engineering and science students entering their final year of study. Interested candidates can apply in the prescribed format by May 31, 2026.
Internship Disciplines and Eligibility
The internship programme will be conducted offline at DEBEL, Bengaluru, for a duration of six months. The laboratory has announced eight internship positions across multiple disciplines, including:
- Electronics & Communication Engineering
- Electronics & Telecommunication
- Electronics & Instrumentation
- Embedded Systems Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering / Medical Electronics
- Computer Science Engineering / Information Technology
- Textile Engineering / Polymer Science
- Chemistry
- Physics
The programme is open to:
- Engineering students entering final year UG in AY 2026-27
- Science students entering final year PG in AY 2026-27
DEBEL stated that the number of positions is indicative and may change based on organizational requirements.
Stipend and Internship Benefits
Selected interns will receive a stipend of ₹30,000, which will be disbursed in two installments:
- ₹15,000 after successful completion of the first three months
- ₹15,000 after completion of the six-month internship tenure
Interns who successfully complete the programme, including project evaluation and submission of reports, will receive a Completion Certificate from DEBEL.
However, the organization clarified that the internship does not guarantee employment with DRDO.
Selection Process and Application Procedure
Applications must be sent via Speed Post to the Director, DEBEL, Bengaluru, with the envelope clearly mentioning “Application for Paid Internship” along with the discipline name.
The application should include:
- Duly filled application form
- Copies of mark sheets
- Permission letter from the college
- GATE score copy (if available)
Selection will be based on merit, considering CGPA up to the fifth semester and interview/interaction, if required.

Additional Guidelines
DEBEL stated that biometric attendance will be mandatory during the internship. Leave will only be permitted for valid medical reasons. No boarding or lodging expenses will be provided to selected candidates.
Students selected for the programme must also submit documents, including police verification, medical fitness declaration, Aadhaar card, bank details, passport-size photographs, and original academic records at the time of joining.
The internship initiative reflects DRDO’s continued focus on nurturing young research talent and strengthening indigenous defence technology development in India.
