Google Opens 2027 Internships in Software and Silicon Engineering

Google is currently accepting applications for two Summer 2027 PhD internship roles in India — Software Engineering and Silicon Engineering — offering opportunities for doctoral students in software and hardware-related fields.

Software Engineering PhD Internship

Google’s Software Engineering PhD Intern, Summer 2027 is a paid internship of 12 weeks or more.

The role is available in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune, with the recruitment team deciding the final placement based on the candidate’s profile and business requirements.

The internship is open to candidates pursuing a PhD focused on software development or a related technical field. Applicants should have experience with programming languages such as Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript or Go, along with knowledge of data structures, algorithms and software design.

Interns will work on software projects, including scalable and distributed systems, and apply their academic knowledge to real-world engineering problems. Google also lists research areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, databases, networking and systems among the relevant areas of experience.

Silicon Engineering PhD Internship

Google is also hiring Silicon Engineering Interns, PhD, Summer 2027 for its Bengaluru and Hyderabad locations.

The position is open to PhD students in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields.

Candidates should have experience in areas such as C++, Python, Verilog, UVM, Synopsys or Cadence tools, along with knowledge of hardware system integration, computer architecture, digital design, ASIC physical design, FPGAs or embedded systems.

The internship involves working with hardware and software teams on Google Cloud Silicon, including areas such as TPUs, Arm-based servers and network products. Google states that candidates should be available to work full-time for 12 weeks outside their university term.
