NESAC Internship 2026: Apply for Space Research and Project Training

The North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), under the Department of Space, Government of India, has invited applications from eligible students and research scholars for its Student Internship Scheme and Student Project Trainee Scheme.

The programmes provide students an opportunity to work with NESAC scientists and engineers and gain practical exposure to space applications, remote sensing, GIS and related areas.
NESAC, located in Umiam, Meghalaya, conducts training and capacity-building programmes to promote the use of space technology and geospatial inputs for planning and development.
The centre has also been supporting BTech, MTech and MSc students from different parts of the country in carrying out dissertation work under the supervision of its scientists and engineers.

NESAC Internship: Eligibility and Duration
Under the Student Internship Scheme, Indian citizens pursuing UG, PG or PhD programmes from recognised universities or institutions in India or abroad can apply.
Students who have recently completed their UG or PG degree can also apply within six months from the date of award of their degree.
Applicants must be enrolled in a regular, on-campus programme or must have completed their degree through a regular on-campus programme. They should have secured at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.32 on a 10-point scale.
The internship can be for a maximum of 45 days and does not have to be completed continuously. Students are required to submit a bona fide certificate issued by their Head of Department, Principal or Director. The certificate must state that the internship forms part of the student’s course curriculum.

The internship is unpaid. NESAC has stated that interns and project trainees will not receive any stipend, remuneration or financial assistance. Accommodation will also not be provided. However, students can use the canteen facilities available to regular employees.
Students who successfully complete their internship and submit the required assignment report will receive a certificate, subject to evaluation by the concerned division heads.
Project Training for BTech, MSc and PhD Students
NESAC is also accepting students under its Student Project Trainee Scheme for academic project work. Applicants must be Indian citizens and have at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.32.
For B.E./B.Tech students, completion of the sixth semester is required, while the minimum project duration is 45 days. B.Sc students must be in their final year and complete at least 45 days of project work.
For M.E./M.Tech and M.Sc students, the applicant must have completed the first semester. The minimum project duration for these programmes is 120 days. PhD scholars can apply after completing their coursework, with a minimum project duration of 30 days.
Like the internship programme, project training is unpaid and does not include accommodation or financial assistance. Students are required to submit a bona fide certificate confirming that the project training is part of their academic curriculum.
Application Dates and Selection Process
NESAC has specified three application windows based on the proposed project start period. Applications for projects beginning in May-June are accepted from February 1 to March 31. For projects starting in July-August, applications are accepted from April 1 to May 15.
For projects starting in December-January, the application window will open from August 15 to September 30. Interested candidates can apply through the official link of the NESAC Centre.
Selected applicants will be contacted within one month after the respective application deadline.
