AICTE Announces Fully Funded 12-Week Internship in Canada

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has invited applications for the AICTE–Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) 2027.

This initiative offers India’s undergraduate students the opportunity to undertake fully funded research internships at leading universities in Canada.
Under the programme, up to 300 eligible students are expected to be selected every year for the next three years, beginning in 2027.
The initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AICTE and Canadian research organisation Mitacs.

It is aimed at strengthening academic collaboration between India and Canada while providing Indian students with international research exposure and access to advanced research facilities.
12-Week Research Internship in Canada
The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is a competitive international programme that enables undergraduate students to work with faculty members at participating Canadian universities for 12 weeks.
The internships are scheduled to take place between May and October 2027.
Students from engineering, computer science, mathematics, physical sciences, life sciences, business, social sciences, arts and humanities can apply, subject to the programme’s eligibility criteria.

Selected candidates will receive pre-departure support and gain exposure to global research practices and innovation ecosystems in Canada.
How to Apply
Eligible students can submit their applications through the AICTE Internship Portal by completing the online application form and uploading the required academic documents within the application deadline.
Applicants should carefully review the eligibility criteria, academic requirements, and document checklist before applying.
The application window opened on August 5, 2026, and will remain open until September 16, 2026.
After the application process closes, shortlisted candidates will go through screening, matching with research supervisors at Canadian universities, and the final selection process.
