Oracle Layoffs: Fresh India Job Cuts Reportedly Affect 3,000 Employees

Oracle has started a fresh round of job cuts in India, with around 3,000 employees reportedly affected, according to media reports. The latest workforce reduction follows earlier layoffs and comes as the technology company reviews costs while increasing spending on cloud and AI infrastructure.

Oracle Layoffs Affect Multiple Teams

Employees across several functions in India are reportedly impacted by the latest round of layoffs. Product engineering teams are understood to have faced a significant share of the cuts, while support, consulting, sales and other functions have also been affected.

The exact number of employees affected in India has not been officially confirmed by Oracle. Media reports have put the figure at around 3,000, while other estimates have placed the number between 2,000 and 2,500.

Oracle had already carried out workforce reductions earlier this year. The company has also reduced its global workforce as part of changes to its business and cost structure.

Severance Pay Details Reported

Details of Oracle’s severance package have also emerged through reports based on an internal company FAQ. The reported package includes:

  • Four weeks of base salary for affected employees.
  • One additional week of base salary for each year of service.
  • A reported maximum severance of 26 weeks of base salary.
  • Unvested stock awards and eligibility for future corporate bonuses may also be affected, according to the reports.

The reported severance terms should not automatically be treated as applicable to every employee in India. The actual benefits may depend on the employee’s contract, location and applicable employment rules.

The latest workforce reduction comes as Oracle continues to increase investment in artificial intelligence, cloud services and data centre infrastructure. At the same time, the company has reported higher restructuring costs linked to its workforce and business changes.

For HR leaders, the latest Oracle layoffs reflect the continuing changes in technology companies, where workforce requirements are being reviewed alongside increased spending on AI and cloud infrastructure.

Oracle has not officially confirmed the reported figure of around 3,000 employees affected in India. The final number and employee-specific severance terms therefore remain subject to official confirmation.
