This year, the corporation has earmarked a total of 783 seats under its flagship “Ward of Insured Person” (Ward of IP) quota.

The program offers dependent children of ESI-covered workers an affordable pathway to pursue undergraduate medical, dental, and nursing education.

ESIC Applications: Breakup of Seats and Institutional Network

The 783 provisionally allocated seats are distributed across 22 medical, dental, and nursing colleges pan-India.

This pool includes dedicated ESIC medical institutions as well as selected state government medical colleges that participate in the reservation pool.

The complete seat matrix comprises:

  • MBBS: 695 seats
  • B.Sc. Nursing: 60 seats
  • BDS (Dental): 28 seats

The centralized counselling process will be entirely managed by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) via the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) portal.

Unparalleled Financial Relief

The most significant benefit of the Ward of IP quota is the highly subsidized fee structure, shielding low-income working families from the heavy financial burdens of private medical education.

The annual tuition fee is fixed at an accessible ₹24,000 for both MBBS and BDS courses. Meanwhile, candidates securing admission into the B.Sc. Nursing program will pay just ₹10,000 per year.

To safeguard applicant families, ESIC strictly prohibits any form of capitation fees or external donations.

Eligibility Framework and Deadlines

To qualify for this special corporate reservation, candidates must have appeared and qualified in the NEET (UG) 2026 examination.

Crucially, the candidate’s parent must register as an Insured Person under the ESI Act, 1948, and must have maintained an active contribution profile as of September 30, 2025.

Age restrictions apply to male candidates, who must not have exceeded 21 years of age as of March 8, 2026.

However, in accordance with statutory ESI provisions, this upper age ceiling does not apply to dependent, unmarried female wards.

Eligible aspirants must first secure a mandatory “Ward of IP Certificate” via the online ESIC portal using OTP verification linked to the parent’s registered mobile number.

The deadline for online submission to obtain this crucial certificate is June 21, 2026.
