The project is part of the state’s efforts to attract large manufacturing investments. Uttar Pradesh Govt’s investment strategy focuses on expanding manufacturing through financial incentives, infrastructure, connectivity, land availability, digital approvals and investor support.
The Uttar Pradesh FDI/FCI, Fortune Global 500 and Fortune India 500 Companies Investment Promotion Policy, 2023, is aimed at attracting foreign investment and large global and Indian companies to the state.
Project to create manufacturing capacity
The plant is being developed at the Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Cluster in Unnao. The project is expected to strengthen the state’s packaging manufacturing base and support related supply-chain activity.

Crown Packaging is a subsidiary of US-based Crown Holdings. The Unnao facility will manufacture aluminium beverage cans for the growing beverage packaging market.
The investment is among a series of large packaging-sector projects announced for Uttar Pradesh. Ball Corporation and CANPACK are also planning manufacturing investments in the state.
Together, the three projects represent proposed investments of more than ₹6,500 crore across Unnao and Meerut.
Focus on investment and jobs

The Crown Packaging project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment as the facility becomes operational. Such projects can also create demand for logistics, engineering, maintenance, warehousing and other supporting services.
For HR and workforce planning, large manufacturing investments are likely to increase demand for technical, engineering, operations, supply-chain and plant-management talent in the surrounding regions.
The development also indicates growing interest from multinational manufacturing companies in setting up production facilities beyond traditional industrial centres.
However, the investment announcements should be distinguished from actual employment outcomes. The final scale and timing of hiring will depend on the project’s construction, commissioning and production plans.
The Unnao facility therefore represents a significant manufacturing investment for the state, while its longer-term impact on employment and the local talent market will become clearer as the project progresses.
