TCS Reports Hiring and Salary Costs
TCS onboarded 14,000 graduates in the April-June quarter and another 10,000 in July-September, taking its total to 24,000 in the first half of FY27.
The company also completed its annual salary revisions, effective April 1, 2026. Chief Financial Officer Samir Seksaria said the salary increases affected operating margins by 170 basis points in the June quarter. Top performers received double-digit increases.
TCS reported an operating margin of 24% in both the June and September quarters, according to its FY27 quarterly results.

The company has continued recruiting fresh graduates and said it was in the final stages of campus hiring for the next graduating batch.
Wipro Defers Further Salary Hike Consideration
Wipro implemented its latest salary revisions effective March 1, 2026. During its September-quarter earnings call, Chief Financial Officer Aparna Iyer said another increase was not under consideration at that time.
“It’s been just a few months since we rolled out. So right now, it’s not under consideration,” Iyer said.

The statement reflects Wipro’s position during the earnings call and does not rule out salary revisions at a later date.
Wipro did not conduct campus recruitment in the first half of FY27. Chief Human Resources Officer Saurabh Govil said the company planned to resume campus hiring in the second half, citing expectations of volume growth.
AI and Workforce Requirements
Both companies are addressing changing technology requirements as AI adoption grows. TCS reported that its annualised revenue from AI services crossed $3.1 billion in the September quarter.
However, the companies’ earnings-call comments do not establish AI as the direct reason for their respective salary decisions or campus hiring plans.
The latest updates show different workforce approaches at the two IT services companies. TCS has continued graduate onboarding, while Wipro plans to restart campus recruitment in the second half of FY27 and has not announced another salary increase.
