Wipro Onboarding Delay Affects 200+ Graduates, NITES Seeks Ministry Intervention

Wipro has come under scrutiny over the delayed onboarding of more than 200 graduates selected through its Elite Hiring 2025 programme, with the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) approaching the Ministry of Labour and Employment seeking intervention.

According to NITES, the affected candidates participated in Wipro’s campus recruitment process in February 2025 and cleared the required assessment and interview stages.
They subsequently received offer letters in July 2025 and Letters of Intent in August 2025, which they accepted within the stipulated period.

The candidates later reconfirmed their interest in December 2025 and appeared for Wipro’s Codility technical assessment in March 2026.
NITES said they cleared the assessment and completed background verification by March 26, 2026, but have still not received confirmed joining dates.
NITES Seeks Clarity on Hiring Status
In its representation to the Labour Ministry, NITES has sought clarity on the status of the affected candidates, the reasons for the prolonged onboarding delay, the validity of their offer letters and Letters of Intent, and a definite, time-bound onboarding schedule.
The employees’ body has also urged that candidates whose hiring will not proceed should be informed formally, rather than being left uncertain about their employment status.

NITES has alleged that the prolonged wait has created financial and professional difficulties for the affected graduates.
Earlier reports have also highlighted complaints from candidates who said they had been waiting for several months after receiving offer letters.
NITES has claimed that some candidates declined alternative employment opportunities or were constrained by campus placement commitments after receiving assurances from Wipro. These claims have not been independently established.
Wipro’s Graduate Hiring Programme
Wipro’s official careers platform describes Elite as its Technical Graduate Hiring Programme, designed to recruit engineering graduates from across India and provide them with training and exposure to technology projects.
The company continues to list early-career and graduate opportunities on its careers platform.
The latest development puts the spotlight on the importance of timely communication and transparency in campus hiring, particularly when candidates have already completed assessments, accepted employment offers and undergone background verification.
As of the latest reports, the matter remains centred on NITES’ complaint and its request for government intervention.
