Government WCD Internship 2026: Get ₹20,000 Monthly Stipend

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) offers a two-month WCD Internship programme for women students, scholars, social activists and teachers, with a monthly stipend of ₹20,000.

WCD Internship is aimed at providing exposure to government policies, research and programmes related to women and child development.

Who Can Apply?

The WCD Internship is open to women students, scholars, social activists and teachers who are enrolled in or associated with a university, academic institution or non-academic institution. Applicants must be between 21 and 40 years of age.

The programme is specifically open to candidates from non-Tier-I cities and rural parts of India. The Ministry’s eligibility criteria exclude candidates from Tier-I cities, which include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.

The internship provides selected candidates an opportunity to undertake research, pilot projects and micro-studies related to the Ministry’s programmes. Interns may also contribute through empirical analysis, reports, policy papers and briefs.

Stipend and Other Benefits

Selected interns receive a stipend of ₹20,000 per month. The Ministry also provides reimbursement of eligible travel expenses for joining the programme and returning home at the end of the internship.

Interns who need accommodation in Delhi can also be provided hostel facilities on a sharing basis during the internship, subject to the programme’s provisions. The Ministry takes up to 20 interns per batch.

The internship is conducted in four two-month terms during the financial year: May-June, August-September, November-December and February-March. Applications are generally accepted two months before each term, between the 1st and 10th of the relevant month.

Prospective interns are required to submit their applications online through the Ministry’s Internship Programme portal, wcd.intern.nic.in, for November-December and February-March.

A candidate selected for the internship once is not eligible to apply for any subsequent term. The internship is also not considered an offer of employment or a commitment to future employment.
