MeitY Opens Paid Summer Internship 2026, Apply by June 7

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has invited applications for the Non-Technical Summer Internship Programme 2026 under the National e-Governance Division (NeGD).

The internship programme offers students an opportunity to work on Digital India projects, governance frameworks, policy research, communication strategies, and emerging technology initiatives.

The internship is aimed at students interested in governance, technology management, public policy, communication, and digital transformation. Conducted under the Digital India Corporation (DIC), the programme will provide practical exposure to India’s growing digital governance ecosystem.

Applications for the internship are currently open, and the last date to apply is June 7, 2026.

Internship Roles Across Multiple Domains

This year, NeGD has announced 10 internship positions across various operational and policy divisions. Selected interns will work closely with senior officials and experts involved in key Digital India initiatives.

The available internship categories include:

  • Programme Management – 5 seats
  • Awareness and Communication – 2 seats
  • Capacity Building – 2 seats
  • Technology Management – 2 seats
  • Project Appraisal – 1 seat

Interns will be mentored directly by Heads of Division (HODs) and may contribute to projects related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain frameworks, cloud computing, Natural Language Processing (NLP), data analytics, and data privacy research under the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) framework.

The programme is expected to offer hands-on experience in policy drafting, documentation, stakeholder coordination, and digital governance implementation.

Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process

The internship is open to students from recognised institutions across India. Applicants must have secured at least 60 percent marks in their last qualifying examination. Students currently pursuing pre-final or final year courses are eligible to apply.

Eligible academic formats include:

  • 10+2+3 programmes
  • 10+2+4 engineering programmes
  • Integrated or dual degree courses under 10+2+5 format
  • Diploma and degree programmes

Students from institutions ranked among the top 100 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) will receive additional weightage during shortlisting.

The selection process will include shortlisting based on academic performance, followed by interviews or internal evaluation during the third week of June. Final selections are expected to be announced in the fourth week of June.

Duration, Stipend and How to Apply

The internship will run from July to September 2026 and may be extended by up to three months depending on project requirements and candidate performance.

Selected candidates will receive:

  • Exposure to Digital India initiatives
  • Mentorship from NeGD officials
  • Internship completion certificate
  • Stipend after successful completion and approval
