Microsoft, 1M1B Roll Out 5,000 Green Skills and Applied AI Internships

1M1B, in partnership with Microsoft, has launched Green Skills and Applied AI Internship programme for students across India.
The 12-week internship programme aims to help students learn practical skills in Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, sustainability, and climate action.
The internship is part of the Green Skills and Applied AI for Climate Action Centres of Excellence (COE) initiative.
Under the larger programme, the organisers plan to engage 1 lakh youth in AI and green skills training and support climate-related AI projects by 2030.
Applications for the internship are open till June 15, 2026. A total of 5,000 openings have been announced.
Internship to Focus on Climate and AI Projects
Students selected for the programme will first attend a bootcamp session. After completing an assessment, shortlisted candidates will move to a 70-hour internship focused on climate action and Applied AI projects.
During the internship, students will work on sustainability-related problem statements and create outputs such as dashboards, analytical models, reports, and AI-based prototypes.
The programme will also include mentorship sessions, project reviews, and feedback from industry experts.

The internship will be conducted virtually, while some live projects may be linked to the 1M1B Centre of Applied AI and Climate Action in Lucknow.

Certificate and Career Exposure
Students who complete the programme successfully will receive an Internship Completion Certificate in collaboration with the industry and AICTE.
Participants will also build project portfolios during the internship.
According to the organisers, students may get access to future opportunities such as live projects, fellowships, internships, and employer connections based on their performance.
The programme is open to students from different academic backgrounds who are interested in sustainability, AI, and data-related work.
Students can apply through the AICTE Internship Portal. Shortlisted applicants will receive a webinar invitation, followed by an assessment and further selection process.
