NIELIT Opens Summer Internship 2026 on Emerging Technologies

The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has opened applications for its Summer Internship Programme 2026 focused on emerging technologies.

The internship programme is aimed at engineering and technology students seeking practical exposure in advanced domains such as embedded systems, cybersecurity, FPGA design, AI, and digital technologies.

The programme will be conducted primarily through NIELIT centres, including NIELIT Calicut, and offers both offline and hybrid internship formats. Interested students can apply through the official NIELIT portal before the respective deadlines.

Internship Focus Areas and Technologies

The Summer Internship Programme has been designed to equip students with hands-on technical skills and industry-oriented learning through practical sessions, mini-projects, and lab exposure.

• Cyber Security & Ethical Hacking
• FPGA Prototyping using Verilog HDL
• Artificial Intelligence and Data Science
• IoT using Arduino
• Cloud Computing with AWS and Azure

According to NIELIT, the programmes aim to improve employability and provide exposure to real-world applications in Electronics and Information Technology sectors.

Duration, Mode and Fee Structure

The internship programmes are being offered in multiple formats, including 4-week offline, 6-week hybrid, and short-term training models.

• Internship duration ranges from 2 to 6 weeks

• Course fees start from approximately ₹5,000
• Hands-on lab sessions and project-based learning included
• Government-recognised certification is provided upon successful completion

For example, the “Internship on Emerging Technologies” at NIELIT Calicut is being conducted as a four-week offline programme. Separate internships in AI, FPGA design, and cybersecurity are also being offered across centres.

Eligibility and Application Process

The internship programmes are primarily open to:

• BTech and BE students
• MTech and ME students
• BSc and MSc candidates in relevant disciplines
• MCA students
• Final-year and recently graduated candidates in selected programmes

Batch 2 starts on June 8, 2026. Students can apply online through the official NIELIT Internship Website. Some programmes have limited seats and applications are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
