GE Aerospace announced a fresh investment of INR 100 Crore into its multi-modal manufacturing facility in Pune.
This latest capital infusion aims to scale production capacity. It also integrates advanced technologies to meet the surging global demand for aircraft engine components.
GE Aerospace Strengthening the Manufacturing Footprint
This investment marks a pivotal expansion of GE Aerospace’s capabilities in the region.
The funds are earmarked for the acquisition of cutting-edge welding technologies, advanced automated inspection equipment, and high-precision tools.
These upgrades are specifically designed to support the production of critical components for some of the world’s most advanced engine programs, including the GE90, GEnx, GE9X, and the widely used LEAP engines by CFM International.
By focusing on process precision and infrastructure, the Pune facility is evolving from a regional site into a sophisticated global hub.
This move follows an aggressive investment cycle, with the company having committed INR 410 Crore over the previous two years, bringing the total three-year investment in the Pune site to over INR 510 Crore.

Empowering the Local Ecosystem and Workforce
Beyond machinery, GE Aerospace is deeply investing in human capital.
The Pune facility currently supports a robust network of over 300 local suppliers. This contributes to a broader Indian supply chain of more than 2,200 partners.
A standout feature of this expansion is the company’s focus on specialized skills.
The site’s dedicated Weld School and its structured two-year apprenticeship program enroll over 500 individuals annually.
Since 2015, the facility has successfully trained more than 5,000 production associates, creating a steady pipeline of skilled aerospace technicians for the country.
A 40-Year Partnership with India
“This continued investment reflects GE Aerospace’s long-term commitment to India and our confidence in the Pune facility’s role within our global manufacturing network,” stated Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director of the Pune facility.
With over 1,400 engines currently powering Indian commercial airlines and a strong presence in the Indian Defense sector—providing engines for the Tejas Mk1 and naval frigates—GE Aerospace remains a cornerstone of India’s aviation growth.
This latest investment reinforces India’s position as a critical node in the future of global flight.
