The company acknowledged the disruption, apologised to users, and said its teams were working to restore the service.

According to outage tracking platform Downdetector, reports of the issue increased sharply as users complained that the image generation feature was either not working or taking an unusually long time to process requests.

Some users also reported difficulties in accessing ChatGPT and receiving responses.

OpenAI confirmed the problem through its status page and apologised for the inconvenience caused.

The company said it had identified the issue affecting image generation and was actively working on a fix. However, it did not disclose the exact reason behind the outage or provide a timeline for complete restoration.

This is the second ChatGPT outage within a short span, after another disruption over the weekend affected users’ ability to log in, send prompts and access chat history.

The repeated outages have highlighted the increasing dependence on AI platforms for work, education and content creation.

Many professionals, students, marketers and developers now rely on ChatGPT for everyday tasks, making even brief service disruptions noticeable.

As AI adoption continues to grow, users are expecting more reliable and uninterrupted services.

While OpenAI is working to restore normal operations, the recent outages have renewed discussions around the need for stronger infrastructure to support the rapidly expanding user base.
