Standard Chartered Appoints Saumya Iyer as Vice President – Lead HR Advisor

Standard Chartered has appointed Saumya Iyer as Vice President – Lead HR Advisor in Chennai, strengthening its HR leadership team with her extensive experience across people and organisational development.

In her new role, Saumya will work as an HR advisor, supporting business and people priorities. Her experience covers talent management, learning, performance, engagement, culture, diversity, succession planning and HR strategy.

Extensive Experience

Before joining Standard Chartered, Saumya was Head – Learning, Development and Engagement at Royal Sundaram General Insurance, where she spent over four years.

She led people capability and culture initiatives across talent management, learning, performance management, leadership development, employee engagement and diversity and inclusion. She also supported the Technology division on talent priorities.

Earlier, she worked with Saint-Gobain India’s Glass Business as Team Leader – Human Resources for close to a year. Before this, Saumya spent nearly five years with Franklin Templeton Investments, holding the roles of Sr. HR Consulting Partner and Manager – Human Resources.

She began her career with Max Life Insurance, where she worked as Senior Manager for over three years.

Prior to that, she was Human Resources Manager at NOOK Micro Distribution for nearly two years. Her earlier experience includes almost four years with Kotak Mahindra Bank as RM – Human Resources and Deputy Manager – HR.

Overall, Saumya brings about 20 years of HR experience across banking, financial services, insurance, manufacturing and other sectors.

Saumya holds a PGeMBA in Human Resources from MET League of Colleges, completed between 2004 and 2006.
