The announcement came as Gautam Adani laid the foundation stone for a ₹4,000-crore-plus healthcare project in New Town, Kolkata.
₹4,000 Crore Healthcare Project
The proposed Adani Arogya Mandir will be a 2,000-bed not-for-profit medical institution and will include a medical college and facilities for research and healthcare. The group has said it will invest more than ₹4,000 crore in the hospital, college and research facility.
According to the announcement, 1,000 of the planned 2,000 beds will be reserved for economically weaker sections covered under state and central government health insurance schemes.

The project is expected to create more than 10,000 jobs across West Bengal’s healthcare ecosystem, according to Gautam Adani.
The reported figure refers to the hospital and related healthcare institutions and should not be treated as the employment impact of the group’s wider ₹1 lakh crore investment plan.
Key details of the healthcare project include:
- Investment: More than ₹4,000 crore
- Location: New Town, Kolkata
- Capacity: 2,000 beds
- Employment: More than 10,000 jobs expected across the healthcare ecosystem
- Other facilities: Medical college and research facilities

Wider Investment Plan
The healthcare project forms part of the Adani Group’s larger investment plan for West Bengal. Adani said the group intends to invest more than ₹1 lakh crore in the state by 2035.
The proposed investments are expected to cover ports, logistics, power generation, transmission and distribution, roads, bridges, ropeways, green cement and hyperscale data centres.
The group has also announced support for the restoration of Kolkata’s historic Writers’ Building.
Business and Employment Relevance
For West Bengal’s business and talent market, the proposed projects could create demand across healthcare, engineering, construction, logistics, power, technology and other support functions.
However, the group has not provided a consolidated employment estimate for the broader ₹1 lakh crore investment plan.
The immediate employment figure available is linked to the healthcare project. The actual scale and timing of jobs from the wider investment programme will depend on individual projects as they are developed and commissioned.
