An employee was fired for taking toilet breaks of up to 6 hours a day

A China employee (named identified only by his surname Wang) was fired for taking toilet breaks of up to 6 hours a day while at work.

He took the breaks due to medical reasons. The employee underwent treatment for an “anal problem,” which led to his frequent bathroom visits. 

Mr. Wang joined the company in April 2006 and in December 2014. As per the company records reported by the outlet, from September 7 to 17 in 2015. The company issued a termination contract on September 23 of that year.

Additionally, he took two or three trips to the restroom during each work shift, totaling 22 visits in that period. Moreover, each visit reportedly lasted between 47 minutes and a whopping 3 hours.

By the post into South China Morning Post, However, The employee did approach the courts for unfair termination but even the Chinese courts ruled in favor of the employers. The incident shows that it needed empathy and “being sick deserves sympathy.”
