Burger King India Appoints Sumit Zaveri as Chief Executive Officer

Restaurant Brands Asia (RBA), which operates Burger King in India, has appointed Sumit Zaveri as Chief Executive Officer of its India business, effective November 1, 2026. He succeeds in the role after serving as the company’s Group CFO and Chief Business Officer.

In his new role, Sumit will lead Burger King India’s business and report to Rajeev Varman, Whole-time Director and Group CEO of Restaurant Brands Asia. His appointment marks a move from finance leadership to the overall management of the company’s India operations.
Extensive Experience
Sumit brings over 28 years of experience in finance, accounting, treasury, budgeting and business management across the hospitality, retail and food services sectors.
He joined Restaurant Brands Asia in September 2019 and has held senior finance and business leadership responsibilities. Before his appointment as CEO, he served as Group Chief Financial Officer and Chief Business Officer.

His responsibilities included finance and accounting, business development, statutory compliance, capital expenditure, supply chain, investor relations and information technology.
Earlier, he worked as Chief Financial Officer at Nature’s Basket from 2017 to 2019. Before that, he spent nearly five years with Tata Starbucks, where he handled finance-related responsibilities.
Sumit also worked with The Indian Hotels Company Limited for over 11 years as General Manager – Finance. During this period, he gained experience in finance, corporate accounts and treasury operations.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Mumbai. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and also holds a qualification in Cost and Works Accountancy.
