Birlasoft Appoints Madhavan Hariharan as CEO and Managing Director

Birlasoft Limited has appointed Madhavan Hariharan as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD), effective December 8, 2026. He will succeed Angan Guha.

The appointment was approved by Birlasoft’s Board of Directors on November 6, 2026, for a period of two years, subject to approval by the company’s members and other applicable approvals.

Hariharan has been associated with the CKA Birla Group since January 2018, serving as Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Head of Strategy. In this role, he has been responsible for group strategy, finance, governance and risk management.

According to Birlasoft, Hariharan has worked closely with the company’s leadership team and Chairpersons over the years, contributing to strategic priorities, organisational performance and long-term value creation.

Madhavan Hariharan’s Professional Experience

Madhavan Hariharan brings extensive international experience in finance, strategy and governance, with a focus on institution building and talent development.

Before joining the CKA Birla Group in January 2018, he held various leadership positions at Ashok Leyland, PepsiCo, Tata SIA and Royal Philips in the Netherlands.

At the CKA Birla Group, his responsibilities as Group CFO and Head of Strategy include overseeing group-level finance, strategy, governance and risk management.

Hariharan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Vivekananda College, Chennai. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAI), Company Secretary (ICSI) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).

He has also completed the Mobilizing Non-Profit Boards programme at Harvard University and executive development programmes at Wharton and the Indian Institute of Management, Delhi.
