Jindal Power Limited Appoints Sudip Nag as Managing Director

Jindal Power Limited has appointed Sudip Nag as its Managing Director, with the appointment taking effect in September 2026. He brings over three decades of experience in the power sector.

In his new role, Sudip will be responsible for business and operational leadership at Jindal Power, drawing on his experience in thermal generation, plant operations, fuel sourcing, commissioning, commercial functions and energy management.

Extensive Experience

Before joining Jindal Power, Sudip served as Chief Operating Officer – Thermal Generation at Adani Power. He was responsible for operations and fuel sourcing across 12 thermal power stations with more than 18,000 MW of operating capacity, as per his professional profile.

Earlier, he was Director at BRBCL, a joint venture of NTPC and Indian Railways. He held the position from 2023 to 2025.

Sudip spent more than 34 years with NTPC in various operational and leadership roles. He served as Regional Executive Director for the Eastern Region, overseeing operations, fuel sourcing, commercial activities and administration for a large power generation portfolio.

He also served as Executive Director and Mission Director of SAMARTH, the National Mission on Use of Biomass in Thermal Power Plants. The Ministry of Power and NTPC records identify him as Mission Director of the programme.

Earlier in his NTPC career, Sudip was Chief General Manager at Talcher Super Thermal Power Station and General Manager (Operation Services) at the corporate centre. He began his NTPC career at Farakka Super Thermal Power Station.

Sudip holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Durgapur and a PGDBM in Operations and Finance from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.
