In a decisive move to solidify its position as an “AI builder,” Cognizant has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Astreya, a San Jose-based leader in AI-first IT managed services.

The deal, valued at approximately $600 million, marks a significant expansion of Cognizant’s infrastructure capabilities during what industry leaders are calling the largest data center buildout in history.

Cognizant Strengthening the AI Infrastructure Backbone

The acquisition is strategically timed to capitalize on a projected $6.7 trillion global investment in AI data center infrastructure between 2025 and 2030.

Astreya brings nearly a decade of experience managing critical environments for six of the “Magnificent Seven” hyperscalers, including data center infrastructure, AI lab environments, and enterprise networks.

Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S emphasized that Astreya’s proprietary AI tooling and production-grade platforms are highly complementary to Cognizant’s existing “AI builder” stack.

The integration will allow Cognizant to help clients architect and operationalize platform-led AI systems at an unprecedented scale.

Key Assets: AI OpsHub and Hyperscaler Expertise

A central component of the deal is Astreya’s AI OpsHub, a platform featuring modules for:

  • Readiness Assessment: Evaluating client infrastructure for AI deployment.
  • Signal Intelligence and Analytics: Providing real-time insights into infrastructure performance.
  • Agentic Automation: Utilizing AI agents to streamline IT operations.

Astreya’s strong ecosystem partnerships with Google Cloud Platform and ServiceNow will also be integrated into Cognizant’s global delivery network.

Strategic Outlook and Market Impact

The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approvals.

This move follows other recent high-profile acquisitions by Cognizant, including 3Cloud and Belcan.

Cognizant aims to bridge the gap between heavy infrastructure investment and tangible business value for its enterprise clients.

They will achieve this by bringing in Astreya’s “hyperscaler-hardened” talent.

For Astreya, joining Cognizant provides the global scale necessary to accelerate the commercialization of its Enterprise AI Ops capabilities.
