upGrad Appoints Mukesh Mundra as Chief Financial Officer

upGrad, Asia’s leading integrated skilling and workforce development company, has officially announced the appointment of Mukesh Mundra as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Operating out of the company’s corporate headquarters in Mumbai, Mukesh will assume control of upGrad’s core Finance and Administration divisions. 

His core mandate will focus on refining financial strategy, driving internal business partnering, optimizing governance, and introducing robust scale-building frameworks to sustain the firm’s global growth trajectory.

An Elite Blueprint: 26 Years of Cross-Industry Leadership

Mukesh steps into the role with a highly decorated 26-year career in financial leadership, spanning competitive sectors like media, telecommunications, manufacturing, and consumer-centric industries. 

Mukesh is a dually qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) and Certified Financial Analyst (CFA).

His appointment signals upGrad’s intent to bring seasoned, large-scale enterprise discipline to the edtech and workforce evolution space.

He joins upGrad directly from JioStar, where he served as the Head of Finance. 

Prior to that high-profile tenure, Mukesh spent over eight years as the CFO of Viacom18 Media Private Limited.

In this role, he orchestrated complex financial planning and steered highly successful corporate transformation roadmaps.

Earlier in his professional trajectory, Mukesh held foundational leadership posts at Idea Cellular, where he played an instrumental role in executing historic corporate milestones.

These milestones included the strategic acquisition of Spice Communications and the landmark joint venture establishment of Indus Towers.

His deep financial acumen was further shaped through senior positions at Grasim Industries and the Anand Rathi Group.
