Citi Elevates Sharad Joshi as MD & Chief Auditor, AI Assurance

Citi has elevated Sharad Joshi as Managing Director and Chief Auditor, Artificial Intelligence Assurance, effective September 2026.

In his new role, Sharad will focus on artificial intelligence assurance, including reviewing AI-related risks and controls, supporting oversight, and assessing whether AI systems meet Citi’s control and regulatory requirements.

Extensive Experience

Sharad brings more than 30 years of experience across banking, financial services and technology.

Before taking up his current role, he was Managing Director, CTO, Infrastructure Controls and Technology Risk at Citi, where he worked on AI risk and controls, regulatory compliance, technology risk and control design.

Earlier, Sharad spent nearly 15 years with The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), a financial services infrastructure organisation.

He held several leadership roles, including Managing Director, Digital Services and Governance; Managing Director, IT Governance and Assurance; Managing Director, Enterprise Test Engineering; Domain Lead, Enterprise Test Engineering; and Executive Director, IT Business Management.

His work covered technology governance, risk management, compliance, testing, digital services, cloud adoption, and IT financial management.

Before DTCC, he worked with Birlasoft as VP, Technologies & Alliances for nearly seven years. He also worked as a Senior Consultant with Capgemini for around three years, supporting software projects in the telecom, media, and networks sector.

He began his career at Siemens as a Senior Developer, where he worked for about four years.

Sharad holds an Executive MS in Technology Management from Columbia University and a BE in Electrical Engineering from Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur. He also completed programmes at IIM Ahmedabad and Wharton.
