Tata Projects Appoints Sukumar Hebbar as MD & CEO

Tata Projects Limited has appointed Sukumar Hebbar as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO), effective immediately. He succeeds Vinayak Pai, who has led the company since 2022.

His appointment is expected to strengthen Tata Projects’ leadership team as the company expands its presence across urban infrastructure, data centres and industrial engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects.
Extensive Experience
Sukumar joins Tata Projects after more than 35 years at Larsen & Toubro (L&T), where he most recently served as Senior Vice President and IC Head of the Transportation Infrastructure business. In this role, he oversaw the Roads, Bridges & Formation and Railways portfolios.

During his career at L&T, he played a key role in building the healthcare business into a profitable vertical and securing major data centre orders. He also led the execution of several landmark infrastructure projects, including the Ram Mandir, Navi Mumbai International Airport, and Kartavya Bhawan.
Commenting on his appointment, Sukumar Hebbar said, “Tata Projects has built a formidable reputation as India’s technology-led infrastructure builder. I am excited to join the team at a time when the sector is central to India’s growth story and to work with our people to deliver projects that are safer, faster and more sustainable.”
He added that his immediate priority would be to execute complex infrastructure projects while expanding the company’s capabilities in data centres and sustainable energy.
Sukumar holds a degree in Architecture from Mysore University and is an alumnus of INSEAD’s Advanced Management Programme in Organisational Leadership.
He began his career in 1990 as a Graduate Engineer Trainee and has since led several strategic business units across the infrastructure sector.
